Do not drive to the building

SDSU assigns an arrival parking lot, not a curb. Except for M@College residents, students go to the assigned lot first. Move-in services are reduced after 4 p.m.

Bed and room basics

First-year rooms use Twin XL beds and come with a refrigerator-freezer and a microwave. Sophomore and upper-division buildings mix Twin XL, Full and Full XL, so the assignment email is the only reliable source for sheet size. Bathrooms, kitchens, air conditioning and storage vary by community.

Pack these first

  • Bedding in the size named in the assignment email
  • Towels, toiletries and a shower caddy
  • A shower curtain for Sunset Plaza, Viva, Aztec Corner or M@College, where curtains are not supplied
  • Laundry supplies, hangers and basic cleaning supplies
  • Compliant surge protection

Rules and smart skips

  • Skip a second refrigerator. First-year rooms already have one.
  • Space heaters, hot plates, portable stoves, air conditioners, water coolers, ice makers, humidifiers and diffusers are prohibited.
  • Cooking appliances may only be used in designated kitchens or specified kitchenettes.
  • Confirm whether the assigned community supplies shower curtains before buying one.

Before move-in

  • SDSU assigns a date, time, building, bed size and arrival parking lot.
  • Follow the P2, P7, P15 or P17 instruction that matches the assignment.
  • Bring the SDSUcard for room and meal access.
  • Arrive earlier in the day where possible, since services taper off after 4 p.m.
