Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of DormHQ's websites, applications, content, planning tools, and related services (collectively, the "Services"). "DormHQ," "we," "us," and "our" refer to Ashley Langford Consulting, LLC.

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the Services. You may not use the Services if you are under 18 or prohibited from doing so under applicable law.

2. Accounts

You may need an account to use certain features. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and promptly notify us of unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account unless prohibited by law.

3. The DormHQ service

DormHQ provides planning, organization, educational content, product-discovery, and collaboration tools intended to help students and families prepare for college living. Recommendations, checklists, and content are general information, not professional, legal, medical, financial, housing, or safety advice.

Campus rules, room dimensions, permitted appliances, housing policies, and move-in procedures vary. You are responsible for verifying requirements directly with the relevant school, housing provider, retailer, or other authority.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Violate law or the rights of others.
  • Access or use another person's account without permission.
  • Upload malicious code or interfere with the security or operation of the Services.
  • Scrape, copy, reverse engineer, or systematically extract the Services except as allowed by law or with our written permission.
  • Use automated systems to overload, disrupt, or improperly access the Services.
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation.
  • Use the Services to harass, threaten, defraud, or distribute unlawful or harmful material.
  • Attempt to bypass access controls or usage limits.

5. User content and shared information

If the Services allow you to submit, save, or share lists, notes, feedback, or other content ("User Content"), you retain ownership of your User Content. You grant DormHQ a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify, and display User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, improve, secure, and provide the Services.

You represent that you have the rights needed to provide User Content and that it does not violate law or third-party rights. When you share content or collaborate with another person, that person may be able to view, copy, or change the shared information.

6. DormHQ content and intellectual property

The Services, including their design, software, text, graphics, branding, and original content, are owned by DormHQ or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Services for their intended purpose.

You may not use the DormHQ name, logos, or other brand elements without written permission.

7. Third-party links, products, and affiliate relationships

The Services may link to products offered by third-party retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, and Target. Some links are affiliate links, which means DormHQ may earn a commission if you click or purchase, at no additional cost to you.

DormHQ does not control third-party products, inventory, pricing, delivery, returns, safety, availability, or privacy practices. Your transaction is with the third-party retailer and is governed by that retailer's terms and policies. Product references are not guarantees or endorsements.

8. Paid services and subscriptions

DormHQ currently offers a free tier and plans to offer DormHQ+ for one student at $19.99 per year. A DormHQ Family plan, currently planned at $39.99 per year, is expected to be offered later and may include multiple students, multiple active living situations, a family-level view, and historical moves. Features, availability, and pricing may change before launch; the terms displayed at checkout control. You authorize DormHQ and Stripe to charge the payment method you select.

Subscriptions renew automatically only when disclosed at checkout and continue until canceled. You may cancel at any time through the self-service Stripe customer portal. Cancellation stops future renewal charges but does not produce a refund for the current billing period, except for verified billing errors or where a refund is required by law. You will ordinarily retain access through the end of the paid billing period.

We may change prices or paid features with advance notice where required. Price changes will apply prospectively.

9. Service changes and availability

We may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue features. We aim to keep the Services available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Where required, we will provide notice of material changes affecting paid Services.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, failed to pay applicable fees, or misused the Services. Where appropriate, we may provide notice and an opportunity to address the issue.

Provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and dispute provisions, will survive.

11. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Services are provided "as is" and "as available." DormHQ disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that recommendations are complete, accurate, suitable for every campus, or free from errors.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DormHQ and its affiliates, officers, employees, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or opportunities arising from the Services.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DormHQ's total liability for claims related to the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid DormHQ for the Services during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or (b) US $100.

These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law.

13. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless DormHQ from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising from your unlawful use of the Services, your User Content, or your material violation of these Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

The parties intend to use binding individual arbitration, with an attorney-approved class-action waiver. Any court proceeding permitted under that final clause will take place in Forsyth County, Georgia, unless applicable law requires another forum.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms and update the date above. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice where required. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
