Is the free plan actually free, or is it a trial?
Actually free, forever. Free includes the personalized packing plan from the Build My Dorm quiz, purchase and packing tracking, basic tasks, and one collaborator. DormHQ+ adds the bigger coordination tools (budgets, move-in planning, vehicle packing, documents), but nothing in Free expires.
Who counts as a collaborator? Do family members pay separately?
No. One subscription covers the whole family. A collaborator is anyone you invite into your DormHQ, like a parent, the student, or a grandparent. They all see the same list at no extra cost. Free includes one collaborator; DormHQ+ expands that.
What about roommates? Do they need to join my account?
No, and they shouldn't. Roommates connect through a roommate link: each side keeps their own private DormHQ, and only the items you each mark as shared are visible to the other. That's how you settle who's bringing the fridge without sharing budgets or documents. You can also just mark an item “Roommate is bringing” if your roommate isn't on DormHQ.
Can I cancel DormHQ+?
Yes, anytime, right from the app's billing section. No emails, no phone calls. Your plan stays active until the end of the year you already paid for, and your lists stay intact on the free plan afterward.
Is DormHQ+ billed monthly or yearly?
Yearly. $19.99 covers the whole year, spanning the entire move-in arc: planning in the spring, shopping in the summer, move-in in the fall, and move-out the next spring. No monthly drip.
When is DormHQ Family available?

Who is DormHQ for, the student or the parent?
Both, on purpose. The student gets a list that tells them exactly what to buy for their actual dorm; the parent gets to see what's handled without asking. Everyone works off the same list, so nothing gets bought twice.
