Baylor publishes the measurements

The official room-details page lists approximate dimensions and bed-height ranges for individual halls, plus 360-degree tours. It beats any generic dorm checklist, and the listed numbers are approximate, so leave a little margin.

Bed and room basics

Halls use extra-long Twin XL mattresses, but adjustable bed height differs by building and some rooms can use an approved rental loft while others cannot. Campus Living and Learning offers traditional halls, residential colleges, living-learning communities and apartment-style options, and first-year placement can be tied to an academic or residential community. Check the exact room type, not just the building name, along with closet measurements, flooring, whether the room has a sink, and the laundry location.

Pack these first

  • Twin XL bedding
  • Towels, a shower caddy and shower shoes where applicable
  • Laundry supplies and hangers
  • Basic cleaning supplies and a first-aid kit
  • A UL-listed surge protector

Rules and smart skips

  • Bed risers, appliances with exposed heating elements, extension cords, candles, personal routers and wireless printers are prohibited.
  • Do not buy storage bins until you have compared their height with the official bed-height information for the assigned hall.
  • Coordinate any shared refrigerator, microwave, rug or cleaning equipment with roommates.
  • Confirm loft eligibility for the specific room before renting one.

Before move-in

  • Move2BU in the MyHousing portal handles move-in times and vehicle hangtags.
  • Print a hangtag for each move-in vehicle and follow the route assigned to the residence hall.
  • Label belongings with name, hall and room number, and bring the student ID.
  • Do not rely on an older calendar. Dates and building traffic plans change every year.
