Two bed sizes on one campus

TCU rooms are Twin XL or Full XL. Sheets bought before the assignment is visible are a coin flip, so wait for the building and bed size.

Bed and room basics

Bed size depends on the assignment: Twin XL in some rooms, Full XL in others. Room type, bathroom access, air conditioning, flooring and storage also vary by building, so wait for the assignment before buying a rug, large organizers, extra seating or shared appliances. University furniture stays in the room.

Pack these first

  • Bedding in the size the assignment confirms
  • Towels, toiletries and a shower caddy
  • Laundry and cleaning supplies
  • Hangers
  • Approved surge protection

Rules and smart skips

  • TCU suggests a single-cup coffee brewer and prohibits personal microwaves, air fryers, crockpots, hot plates, rice cookers and toasters.
  • Candles, halogen and lava lamps, space heaters, routers, wireless printers, smart lights and 3M strips are also prohibited.
  • Housing supplies limited bed rails and ladders, toilet paper, vacuums and selected printing stations, so skip buying those.

Before move-in

  • TCU assigns a specific time slot based on the student's move-in group.
  • Remaining first-year and upper-division students move on August 19, and approved early groups use earlier dates.
  • Confirm the individual date and room before traveling.
