Bed and room basics

Use the assigned community's official page as the final source for mattress size, floor plan, furnishings and amenities. Building layouts, bathrooms, kitchens, furniture and included appliances all vary. The dorm bed size guide explains what to check once the community page gives a number. Do not buy bed risers, large storage, rugs or shared appliances until the assignment is known.

Pack these first

• Linens in the confirmed size, plus pillows and towels
• Shower shoes and a caddy where needed, plus toiletries
• Laundry supplies and hangers
• Study materials, chargers and approved surge protection
• Cleaning basics, medication, first aid and Florida rain gear

Rules and smart skips

• Review the current move-in guide and resident handbook for prohibited appliances, open flames, cords, pets, décor and cooking devices.
• Confirm whether a refrigerator, microwave or kitchen is already included before buying one.
• Hold off on rugs and storage until the room type is known.

Before move-in

• Follow the assigned date, appointment or arrival window, check-in location, traffic route and unloading instructions in the current guide.
• Bring identification and label belongings.
• Photograph the space before unpacking and complete any room condition report promptly.
