Before buying anything size-specific

  • Confirm the assigned building and exact room type.
  • Verify mattress dimensions, bed configuration and maximum topper depth.
  • Check whether bathrooms are private, shared-suite or community style.
  • Confirm which appliances and furniture the university provides.
  • Review current restrictions for power strips, cooking appliances, wall attachments and bed risers.
🛏️

Room types can differ within the same university, and sometimes within the same building

Use the assigned-room information, not a general dorm checklist, before ordering fitted bedding or large furniture.

Plan move-in

  • Complete the university's required arrival appointment or check-in steps.
  • Obtain the student ID card used for building access.
  • Coordinate shared purchases with roommates.
  • Label moving containers with the student's name, building and room.
  • Bring a folding cart or dolly if the university recommends one.
  • Recheck parking and unloading instructions immediately before arrival.
