Clairmont is not Twin XL

Parts of Clairmont use Full XL, and Clairmont Tower has both sizes in the same building. Do not buy Clairmont bedding until the room type is confirmed.

Bed and room basics

Emory's first-year and second-year halls on the Atlanta campus use Twin XL mattresses measuring 36 by 80 by 8 inches. Clairmont apartments have different room types, kitchens and Full XL exceptions at 53 by 80 by 8 inches. Check the individual hall page for floor plans, furniture dimensions and bathroom arrangement. Oxford College housing is separate from all of this.

For Atlanta Twin XL mattresses, Emory notes that both standard and XL twin sheets can fit, though Twin XL provides the intended length.

Pack these first

  • Bedding in the size confirmed for the assigned building
  • Towels, toiletries and a shower caddy where the bathroom is shared
  • Laundry supplies and hangers
  • Basic cleaning supplies
  • A compliant power strip, not an extension cord

Rules and smart skips

  • Traditional rooms may have one refrigerator or MicroFridge per room. A personal refrigerator must be UL approved and no larger than 3.0 cubic feet.
  • Standalone microwaves are prohibited except where apartment rules allow them. An approved MicroFridge combination is the dorm option.
  • Prohibited: extension cords, open-coil appliances, candles, string lights, air conditioners, space heaters and plug-in air fresheners.
  • Coordinate shared appliances, cleaning supplies, rugs, fans and bathroom or kitchen items only after the assignment is released.

Before move-in

  • Use MyHousing and Emory's current arrival guidance.
  • Assignments for incoming first-years are released separately from the application process, so watch for a second message.
  • Follow the Welcome app and residence-specific unloading information rather than an older date.
