Vanderbilt University
📍 Nashville, TN
The quick take
Vanderbilt mattresses are 36 x 78 inches. Regular Twin sheets work, but Twin XL is recommended when adding a topper.
Bed and room basics
Rooms provide a loftable bed, desk and chair, chest with a lockable drawer, closet, waste and recycling bins, mirror, blinds and central climate control. Vanderbilt has limited 82-inch mattresses for residents who are 6 feet 5 inches or taller.
Pack first
Bring Twin bedding, or Twin XL with a topper, mattress protector, pillows, towels, shower caddy, laundry supplies, hangers, a fan, approved surge protector and a padlock for the lockable drawer.
Rules and smart skips
University furniture, rails and ladders stay in the room. Personal refrigerators must be no larger than 4.0 cubic feet (fridges), and microwaves must be 800 watts or less (microwaves) with an interior capacity no larger than one cubic foot. Coordinate with roommates before buying either.
Before move-in
- Confirm your building, room type and bed size.
- Coordinate shared appliances and cleaning supplies with roommates.
- Review the current arrival route and check-in time.
- Keep bedding, medication, toiletries and chargers easy to reach.
Measure first. Nashville has plenty of drama already.
