Quick take

Hall-side unloading is capped at about 30 minutes, carts are limited, and some halls have no elevator. Pack in boxes one person can carry up stairs.

Bed and room basics

Notre Dame supplies an extra-long twin bed and mattress, a desk and chair, and a closet or wardrobe. Most halls use a modular furniture system that can be lofted, bunked or separated, which makes the room far more flexible than a fixed setup. St. Edward's furniture differs, so residents there should verify dimensions rather than assuming the standard. All university furniture stays in the room.

Pack these first

  • Extra-long twin bedding

  • Coffee makers and electric kettles are permitted when UL certified.
  • Wait on a rug, large organizers, extra seating and shared appliances until the hall and room type are known.
