Purdue University
📍 West Lafayette, IN
The quick take
Purdue's standard residence-hall mattress is about 36 x 78 inches. Standard Twin bedding is the official recommendation, so do not automatically buy Twin XL.
What is provided
Purdue residence-hall rooms include a bed and mattress, curtains, desk, desk chair, desk lamp, dresser, trash can, closet or drawer space, utilities and internet. University furniture must remain in the room.
Pack first
Standard Twin sheets, mattress protector, pillows, towels, shower caddy and shoes, laundry supplies, hangers, cleaning basics, fan and an approved surge protector. Check your assigned housing page because apartments and specialized spaces can differ.
Appliances and lofts
Small microwaves are generally allowed in residence halls, while apartment rules, including Hilltop, may differ. Portable refrigerators may be no larger than 4.0 cubic feet under the current facilities guidance. Third-party lofts are prohibited. Use Purdue's approved Bedloft process if your assignment is eligible.
Before move-in
- Confirm the housing community and room type.
- Review the current what-to-bring list.
- Coordinate shared appliances and cleaning gear.
- Check arrival, parking and unloading instructions.
- Pack one easy-access bag with bedding, toiletries, medication and chargers.
The first night is not the moment to discover every fitted sheet you own is five inches too long.
