University of Minnesota Twin Cities
📍 Minneapolis, MN
Quick take
Most University of Minnesota Twin Cities housing uses Twin XL beds, but Keeler Apartments use standard full beds. Check the exact building before the sheet-shopping spree begins.
Campus and housing overview
University housing is spread across several Twin Cities neighborhoods:
- Superblock: Centennial, Frontier, Pioneer, and Territorial
- University Avenue: 17th Avenue, Sanford, Keeler, and Wilkins
- East River: Comstock and Yudof
- West Bank: Middlebrook and the West Bank Townhouses
- St. Paul: Bailey and nearby cooperative housing options
The Minneapolis and St. Paul areas are connected by campus transit. Location, dining access, bathroom style, and room layout vary by building, so the assigned building page is your best friend here.
Bed and room basics
Most residence halls plus Wilkins and Yudof Apartments use Twin XL sheets. Keeler Apartments use standard full sheets.
Most university rooms include an extra-long Twin bed (except Keeler), a closet or wardrobe and dresser, a desk and chair, window coverings, TV and internet connections, smoke detectors and sprinklers, and trash and recycling containers. Bring your own 8-gallon trash bags. Standard beds provide up to about 27 inches of storage underneath, though lofting and bunking options depend on the room.
Bathrooms and kitchens
Bathroom setup varies by building and room type. Residence hall students should plan for a shower caddy, shower shoes, towels, and toiletries unless their assignment says otherwise. Most buildings have community kitchens with a stovetop, oven, microwave, sink, and counter space. Keeler and Wilkins Apartments are exceptions because apartment kitchens are built into the units.
