📍 Louisville, KY
No trucks, U-Hauls or trailers
Louisville does not allow moving trucks, U-Hauls or trailers during move-in. Plan the load around a regular vehicle and manageable containers.
Bed and room basics
Twin XL is common but not universal, so check the assigned community page for the mattress size. Room type, bathroom, kitchen, air conditioning and storage vary across traditional halls, suites and apartments, so wait for the assignment before buying bedding, rugs, organizers, furniture or shared appliances.
Pack these first
- Bedding in the size the community page confirms
- Towels, toiletries and a shower caddy
- Laundry and cleaning supplies
- Hangers
- Approved surge protection
Rules and smart skips
- Traditional-hall residents may bring a refrigerator no larger than 4 cubic feet and a roughly 700-watt microwave.
- Apartment kitchens change what is actually needed, so check before buying cookware.
- Unauthorized lofting and risers, air fryers outside apartment kitchens, electric frying pans, indoor grills and open-coil devices are prohibited.
- Space heaters, air conditioners, extension cords, halogen bulbs, stick-on LEDs, candles, incense and warmers are also prohibited.
Before move-in
- Use Louisville's fall move-in hub for the assigned date, check-in location, parking and hall directions.
- Bring identification and label manageable containers.
- Leave all university furniture in the room.
