Quick take

First-years are assigned to Aquinas Hall or Boland Hall; you don't pick. Room and bathroom layouts vary by building and section, so wait for the assignment before buying organizers, rugs, or shared appliances.

Bed and room basics

Seton Hall's official packing list calls for Twin XL sheets and a Twin XL comforter. Aquinas houses about 470 first-years in suite-style doubles and triples with shared bathrooms. Boland houses about 707: Boland North is suite-style, while Boland South uses doubles and quads with community bathrooms. Upperclass options include The Complex, Xavier Hall, Turrell Manor, and Ora Manor.

Pack these first

  • Twin XL bedding and a mattress protector
  • Shower caddy and shower shoes, especially for Boland South's community bathrooms
  • A switched surge protector; extension cords and multi-plug adapters are prohibited
  • Battery-powered fairy lights if you want ambient light; plug-in string and LED strip lights are banned

Rules and smart skips

  • A compliant mini fridge and microwave are allowed, or rent through the university's MicroFridge partner. A single-cup coffee maker or auto-shutoff kettle is fine.
  • Skip bed risers and cinder blocks; both are prohibited. Bunking and lofting use university supplies only.
  • Leave home the air fryer, toaster, hot plate, rice cooker, space heater, halogen and lava lamps, plug-in air fresheners, candles, incense, and anything with built-in outlets or USB ports.
  • Every hall has air conditioning and installed blinds, so no window unit and no curtains needed.

All residence halls include card access, free laundry, and AC. The Pirate's Cellar rec space is Boland's; the packing list is yours.

Before move-in

  • Confirm the assigned hall, section, room type, and whether the bathroom is suite or community.
  • Divide the fridge, microwave, and cleaning supplies with roommates before anyone shops.
  • First-year move-in is August 26 and 27, 2026, with chosen arrival slots. The unloading zone is a 15-minute window, so label everything and bring a folding dolly.
  • Aquinas closes over winter break; check break-housing instructions for whatever hall you're assigned.
