Bed and room basics

Columbus residence halls use Twin XL mattresses. Ohio State also provides separate packing guidance for regional campuses, so follow the checklist tied to your assigned campus. Columbus rooms include a bed, closet or wardrobe, desk, chair, window covering, refrigerator, microwave, wastebasket, and recycling bin.

Pack these first

• Twin XL bedding for Columbus housing
• A fan, rain gear, and comfortable walking shoes
• Laundry, shower, and study supplies

Rules and smart skips

• Skip personal air conditioners, extension cords, LED strip lights, bed lofting kits, routers, extra refrigerators, space heaters, and toaster ovens.
• Use the official checklist for Mansfield, Newark, or ATI if assigned there.
• Coordinate shared items before move-in.

The room already has furniture. It does not need your entire childhood bedroom as a supporting cast.

• Confirm the campus, building, room type, mattress, and included furniture.

• Divide shared purchases with roommates before anyone orders three microwaves.
• Measure the room before buying rugs, drawers, or furniture.
