Saint Louis University
📍 St. Louis, MO
Laundry and air conditioning are standard
SLU includes free laundry, air conditioning, wireless internet and card access across its halls, so those are three things nobody needs to budget for.
Bed and room basics
Pack Twin XL linens for the extra-long twin beds. Furnishings and bathroom arrangements differ by hall, so compare the assigned building's floor plan and amenity list before buying storage. University-issued furniture must remain in the room.
Pack these first
- Twin XL linens, pillows and towels
- Shower shoes where needed, plus toiletries
- Laundry supplies and hangers
- Study items, chargers and a surge-protected power strip
- Cleaning supplies, medication, ID and insurance information
Rules and smart skips
- A microwave up to 700 watts and one refrigerator up to 3.2 cubic feet are allowed per room, so coordinate with the roommate first.
- Candles, incense, open-coil appliances, hot plates, toasters and adhesive LED strips are prohibited.
- Unapproved furniture and prohibited weapons are not allowed.
- Fish and hermit crabs are the limited pet exceptions, subject to tank limits and current policy.
Before move-in
- Review the official move-in page and student communications for assigned dates, unloading, parking and check-in.
- Check the room condition information before unpacking and document concerns promptly.
- If using an approved rental vendor, meet its ordering deadline so delivery lands before arrival.
