Rent the loft kit
Loft kits are rented through MyUHDS rather than brought from home, and personal beds or mattresses are not allowed without an approved accommodation.
Bed and room basics
Rooms include an extra-long Twin bed and mattress, which takes Twin XL bedding, plus a wardrobe or closet, desk and chair, recycling and trash bins, and window blinds. Room types, bathrooms, kitchens, air conditioning and storage vary, so wait for the exact assignment before buying a rug, large organizers, furniture or shared appliances. All university furniture stays in the room.
Pack these first
- Twin XL bedding
- Towels and shower gear for community bathrooms
- Laundry supplies, since laundry itself is free
- Cleaning supplies, because students clean their own rooms and suite bathrooms
- Approved surge protection
Rules and smart skips
- Personal beds and mattresses are not allowed without an approved accommodation.
- Review UHDS's current leave-behind list before bringing appliances or electrical items.
- Rent a loft kit through MyUHDS instead of buying risers.
Before move-in
- Sign up for an arrival date and time in the housing portal.
- Use the hall-specific traffic route published in the fall move-in guide.
- Hatfield Marine Science Center housing follows separate instructions.
