Who cleans the bathroom matters

Custodial staff clean common bathrooms. Students with a private bathroom clean it themselves and may need a shower curtain, though the university provides the liner.

Bed and room basics

Each resident gets a Twin XL bed with a 36-by-80-inch mattress, plus a dresser, desk, desk chair, mirror, study lamp and curtains. Building layouts and bathroom arrangements vary, so check the assigned hall before buying storage or décor.

Pack these first

  • Twin XL sheets, a mattress pad, blanket and pillows
  • Towels, shower shoes, a caddy and toiletries
  • Laundry supplies and hangers
  • Cleaning supplies if the room has a private bathroom
  • Surge protection, medication, insurance information and weather gear

Rules and smart skips

  • Microwaves are allowed up to 800 watts and refrigerators up to 4.8 cubic feet.
  • Candles, open-flame or exposed-coil devices, toasters, air fryers, slow and rice cookers are prohibited.
  • Space heaters, window air conditioners, hot plates, halogen torch lamps, wireless routers and various motorized devices are not allowed in halls.
  • Consider a rental MicroFridge instead of buying two appliances.

Before move-in

  • Reserve the required arrival slot through the Campus Living Portal.
  • Follow the assigned unloading window and parking instructions.
  • Early drop-off, where offered, may allow belongings in the room without unpacking or an overnight stay.
  • Bring the student ID and complete room paperwork before arranging furniture.
