Auburn University
📍 Auburn, AL
Quick take
Auburn housing ranges from traditional rooms to suites and apartments. Most Hill, Quad, Village, and Cambridge assignments use extra-long twin beds, while some communities use larger beds. Confirm the assigned room before ordering bedding.
Choose by community, not just building name
Auburn's housing communities have different floor plans, furnishings, and bathroom arrangements. Start with the official community directory and the room details saved in the Housing Student Portal.
Beds and furnishings
Auburn's published materials identify extra-long twin beds in the Hill, Quad, Village, and Cambridge, while South Donahue and some apartment-style properties differ. University furniture must remain in the assigned room.
Confirm the bed type in the portal before buying sheets, a topper, risers, or under-bed bins. Only university-approved leased lofts are allowed where lofting is offered.
Auburn packing priorities
- Sheets, blanket, mattress pad or cover
- Towels and shower caddy
- Laundry basket and supplies
- Fan, desk lamp, and school supplies
- Cleaning supplies, broom, and small vacuum
- Dishes and eating utensils
- Surge protector with an on/off switch
- Under-bed storage containers after measuring
Some suite bathrooms require residents to supply a shower curtain, liner, rings, and bathmat. Coordinate this with suitemates.
Leave these at home
Auburn prohibits or restricts candles, incense, fireworks, and weapons; open-coil cooking appliances and space heaters; extension cords and halogen lamps; personal air conditioners; unapproved bed lofts; wireless routers that interfere with the university network; and adhesive-backed LED strips and other damaging wall products. Review the current list because building rules can differ.
Move-in strategy
